Kismet
Kismet is awarded to players for helping Darkwood Nights run and by supporting the game. It is a separate from XP (experience points) and is tracked at the Player level. There are many ways to acquire Kismet, if you have any questions about the process let us know!
Ways to Acquire Kismet
Monetary Donations - for every $25 donated you are gifted 5 kismet
Physical / Item Donations - Variable depending on donation
Registering and Checking in Early: 1. Check In completed at least 2 weeks before game
NPC Shifts: 1 per shift, Max 10
Playing full time NPCs Or on Staff: 10 per game
Volunteering during game (Set up, tear down, cleaning): 1-3 depending on activity.
Checking out after game with a clean space: 1
Providing a picture of a negative Covid test the day before game: 1
Providing proof of current Covid Vaccination (once per year): 5
Providing proof of yearly Flu Shot (Once per year): 5
How to Use Kismet
For All Characters
Using Kismet: Kismet can be exchanged for the following:
XP: 1 Experience Point - 5 Kismet
Unlocking Restricted Sub-factions: Variable Kismet
Obtain Teaching for a Statistic: 10 Kismet
Create a 3 by 5 Human prompt for the NPC Box: 10 Kismet
Background NPC: 10 Kismet. Guarantee one of your character background NPCs are sent out in the next 2 games.
Relic: 20 Kismet - Create a relic that will be sent out in game 1, 2
Create Relic: 100 Kismet - Create a relic that is given to you (Rules team will work with you on this) 1
Ghoul: 15 Kismet - Add the Ghoul state to any non vampire
Spirit Patron: 25 Kismet - Work with ST to add a Spirit patron to your character.
Demon Patron: 50 Kismet - Work with ST to add a Demon patron to your character.
1 Subject to ST approval
2 Relics are not guaranteed or intended to be given to spender.
Human
Kismet is earned by players for helping Darkwood Nights run and supporting the game. It is a separate resource from XP and is tracked at the Player level.
Conduit of the Gods: 150 Kismet
Requirements: 10 Willpower
Spend 5 Minutes in religious ritual RP with the target and spend 1 Willpower Pool - Soulshift (any condition, All Conditions, Ghoul, Iron Oaths, Stone Oaths, Oathbreaker, Changeling (Replaced by Human))
Revenant: 75 Kismet
Requirements: Subfaction - Commoner
Your character gains the Ghoul State and cannot lose it. They may learn Disciplines up to two dots and start the game with 10 Blood Points. Cannot opt out of the Blood Oaths as if they were in Vampire Faction.
Power of the Gods: 50 Kismet
5 Minute Ritual Roleplay and 1 Willpower Pool. Resurrection
The Sight: 125 Kismet
Requirement: Mystic Sight
Gain Sense Aura, Sense Faction, True Sight
Titled Nobility: 75 Kismet
Not bound by Common Law and can only be judged by another Noble of equal or higher rank.
Rank is determined by a combination of this option and Landed Nobility below.
Title Nobility: Lord / Free Knight
Landed 1: Landed Knight
Landed 2-3: Baron
Landed 4-5: Viscount
Landed Nobility: 20 Kismet (May be purchased up to 5 times)
Requirement: Titled Nobility
Gain 2 Pfennig each check in
Becoming Fae (Changeling): 100 Kismet
Becoming Mage: 100 Kismet
Becoming Vampire: 100 Kismet

Kismet is earned by players for helping Darkwood Nights run and supporting the game. It is a separate resource from XP and is tracked at the Player level.
Lower Generation: 30 Kismet
Must be used after Character Creation
Counts as committing Amaranth
Lower your generation one step. 7th Generation is the lowest allowed with this option
6th Generation: 100 Kismet
Requirement: Must have 7th Generation
Lower Generation to 6th
Counts as committing Amaranth if used after character creation.
Forge blood Relic: 100 Kismet
Gain Forge Relic Ability
Titled Nobility: 75 Kismet
Not bound by Common Law and may only be judged by another Noble of equal or higher rank.
Rank is determined by a combination of this option and Landed Nobility below.
Title Nobility: Lord/Free Knight
Landed 1: Landed Knight
Landed 2-3: Baron
Landed 4-5: Viscount
Landed Nobility: 20 Kismet (May be purchased up to 5 times)
Requirement: Titled Nobility
Gain two Pfenning each Check In
Ascended State: 75 Kismet
Requirement: Road Rating Nine or Higher.
Gain Immunity - Sunlight. Effect becomes dormant if Road Rating drops below nine.
Outside Herd: 25 Kismet
For each 30 minutes the vampire spends NPCing they regain one Blood Point.
This may be purchased up to Five times.
Mage
Kismet is earned by players for helping Darkwood Nights run and supporting the game. It is a separate resource from XP and is tracked at the Player level.
Mastery of Magic: 100 Kismet
Requirement: 4 Foundation one Pillar at 4
May Quick Cast Spells without a Foci for 1 Quintessence
Imbued Sanctum: 100 Kismet
Requirement: 4 Foundation, one Pillar at 4
Claim a space no more than 20ft by 20ft and place an Imbued Sanctum Location Tag on the entrance.
While within this space the character can quick cast non-self powers for free (note: create charm is a self ability).
Living Font: 50 Kismet
Requirement: 4 Font
Spend one Minute up to two times per Game to gain 2 times your Font in Quintessence points, in addition to sleep.
Gain: Give Energy (T) .
Create Artifact: 150 Kismet
Gain Create Artifact Ability (work with Rules Team for item creation).
Create Tass: 50 Kismet
Enter the game having spent 10 or 20 quintessence
Spend 10 and gain 1 dot Magical Component
Spend 20 and gain a 2 dot Magical Component or two 1 dot Magical Components.
Player must provide the prop(s).
Fae
Kismet is earned by players for helping Darkwood Nights run and supporting the game. It is a separate resource from XP and is tracked at the Player level.
Unlock Forging Gold Oaths: 200 Kismet
Requirement: Gramayre 4
Gain Forge Gold Oath.
Court Nobility: 75 For Firstborn, 100 for Inanime, 150 for Changeling and grants the character the following abilities.
Requirement: Not Solstice
Saining: One Year Ritual, see the Dark Ages Fae book on page 24 for details. Activates the Soulshift ability (Solstice replaced with Court)
Solstice: Spend 10 minutes publicly drawing runes on the target Fae while stating their crimes. Soulshift (User’s court replaced with Solstice, they lose all dots in their favored Domain, loses all but 1 dot in the Mien Trait and loses control of any Fae Holde)
Fostering: Spend two Mists Pool and two Weaving Pool. Soulshift (Human replaced by Changeling and Solstice, Target must be willing)
Voice of Authority: May judge members of their court. 1 Willpower and publicly announce the Target’s crimes to your assembled Court or Forgive the Target and state what they did in contrition - Target gains or removes the Court Oathbreaker State.
Beyond Reproach: Only another Fae with Court Nobility may judge the Character of crimes Fae in Nature.
Gramarye Master: 150 Kismet effect depends on Gramarye Specialization
Requirement Gramarye 4
Oaths: Group Stone Oath - Stone oath may be sworn between 2-4 Oathbound, the terms and benefits are the same among all Oathbound. If any break the Oath, or the Oath ends for any Oathbound, it ends for all. Fae may use this Oath to regain 2 + the number of Oathbound Weaving points when it is called on.
Treasures: Gain Create Artifact
Mysteries: Gain True Sight. In addition, you may attune and use any magic item as if you possessed the Energy type listed. Use Mists to activate any powers of the item.
